Why We Started Mecrt
A company built on craftsmanship, purpose, and the people behind every rosary.
A company built on craftsmanship, purpose, and the people behind every rosary
Every rosary we make starts the same way: with a pair of hands.
Some of those hands belong to artisans in rural China, many from low-income farming families. A few years ago, steady work was hard to come by for them. Today, they string beads, tie knots, and stitch scapulars in workshops we built together — and the income they earn goes toward school fees, medical care, and a more secure life at home.
That is the story behind Mecrt (Yiwu) International Trade Co., Ltd. It is also the reason we started the company in the first place.
Who we are
Mecrt is a religious jewelry wholesale company based in Yiwu, China — the world’s largest small-commodity market. We were founded in 2015 with one focus: to make Catholic rosaries, Islamic prayer beads, and handcrafted devotional items that people can trust and wear for years.
Since then, we’ve grown into a team of 270 skilled artisans and workers. We keep more than five million pieces in stock, supply buyers in over 70 countries, and partner with more than 80 brands worldwide. Whether you run a gift shop, a parish bookstore, an import business, or an online store, we can support you with ready-to-ship inventory, flexible order sizes, and custom production.
Why we built this company
We didn’t start Mecrt to chase volume. We started it because we saw how handcrafting religious goods could change lives at the source.
Most of our products are made in collaboration with artisans from low-income rural families. Before working with us, many of them had no reliable way to earn a living near home. Our workshops changed that. Through steady, fairly paid production work, these families have seen real improvements in their income and their standard of living. That was the original intention of our company, and it still guides how we operate today.
Our mission is simple: craft with purpose. We are committed to supporting vulnerable communities, reducing unemployment in the regions where we work, and helping our artisans feel confidence and enthusiasm in their lives — not just a paycheck.
